College basketball recruiting is a full time business at the top Division 1 level down to Division III. Thousands and thousands of miles are traveled to observe, evaluate, and talk to high school players during college basketball recruiting. The NCAA has guidelines when coaches can observe and talk to players or make home visits for the seniors in high school.

College basketball recruiting is at its peak during the spring and summer camp circuit. This is primetime for high school players to be exposed to college coaches. AAU tournaments are the best way to get exposure for college basketball recruiting. If you are fortunate enough to play on a good team that makes the national tournament, at any age level, you will see a crowd of college coaches at your games. You need to train hard during your off-season to be ready for a college coach to watch you play. You need to hustle and never give up when you are playing--especially if things are not going well. Make sure you are in top condition, you have worked hours and hours on your jump shot, your ball-handling, and your ability to be a good one-on-one player. To get yourself the maximum exposure, for college basketball recruiting and if you don't play on a great summer team, sit down with your high school coach and tell them where you would like to play. With the coach, figure out a game plan to contact those schools to better your chances at being recruited for college.
